The Brooks Museum has collaborated with French artist and filmmaker Julian de Casabianca to bring the Outings Project to our city.
Known as the "Robin Hood of Street Art," Mr. de Casabianca has been a part of installing murals in over 50 cities around the world. The purpose of the Outings Project is simple; bring the art of local museums off the walls of the museums and into the street where it can be viewed by a broader population. This project has been in the works for over a year with the artist coming into town in May of this year to meet with fifteen representatives from the city from all walks of life. They sat down and tackled the hard job of picking 21 characters from the paintings in the Brooks permanent collection.
These beautiful murals were completed at the end of September and will be available for viewing, weather permitting, through the end of November. But don't wait until then to go on your very own scavenger hunt Memphis style! With fall break for most Memphis schools coming up next week, I can think of no better time to go mural hunting with your kids.
After finding all the murals, take them to the Brooks to see the actual paintings. The museum hours and rates are as follows:

The last ticket is sold 30 minutes before the museum closes. Tickets include admission to all current special exhibitions and permanent collection.
And I will let you in on a little secret...every Wednesdays it is "Pay What You Can Day"...and any amount from a penny on up will be accepted!!!
