The holiday season is in full swing, and there are plenty of things around town to do and see this year.  Maybe pick a couple from the list below and make them new holiday traditions for yourself and those you will spend the holiday with.  

  • Starry Nights at Shelby Farms now through December 28th-this is a favorite of Mid-Southerners year after year, and for a good reason.  At $20 per carload, load up your family and friends and head to Shelby Farms.  More than 2 miles of lights along with a petting zoo, camel and pony rides, refreshments, carriage, and hayrides, and even a special Build-A-Bear Workshop, there is something for everyone!  Check the website for special theme nights and promotions.
  • Zoo Lights open select nights between now and December 30th-another favorite year after year.  $9 for non-members with plenty of lights, Christmas Trees, tram rides, Santa visits, carousel rides, and, for a little extra, ice skating.  Check the website for a full schedule.
  • Memphis Botanic Gardens Holiday Wonders select evenings now through December 30th and includes four different areas; Snowy Nights, Trees Alight, Under The Stars, and the City of Memphis Christmas Tree.  Check the website for the exact dates and times.
  • Victorian Yuletide Open House at Woodruff-Fontaine House Friday, December 7th from 5-8-This one is free to the public.  Stroll through all three floors of the home and then visit the Mallory-Neely home to see more period decorations and have your picture made with Santa.  
  • Jammies and Jingles at the Children's Museum December 8th 10-3-$20 for non-members which includes full admission to the museum plus pictures with Santa, refreshments, Christmas movie, and crafts.  
  • Brooks Museum Holiday Pop-Up Shop December 9th 10-5 A chance to find some special gifts for those on your Christmas list
  • Christmas Home Tour Collierville December 8th from 10-4 See website for locations and prices
  • Enchanted Forest Festival of Trees Now through December 31st a 65-year-old holiday tradition located in the historic Pink Palace Museum is full of every kind of Christmas tree you can imagine.  Also included are a model train that goes through a beautifully decorated Christmas village, a gorgeously decorated Gingerbread Village, and the original animated animals and characters from the Enchanted Forest.
